At a train station with entrance gates, you get the ticket past the reader (see photo below).
- Open the app and pull out your e-ticket. Make sure your phone’s brightness is high so your ticket is clearly visible.
- Hold your ticket against the glass window. If successful, the entrance gates will open. If not successful, see an NS employee for assistance.
At stations without entrance gates, you do not have to check in, but show your ticket to the conductor when you are checked.
Tip: Should the gate not open by scanning your e-ticket, turn off the NFC on your smartphone (only possible on Android phones) and try again, keeping your smartphone at some distance from the scanner. (NFC can be found in the “settings” of your smartphone under “connections”).
