No, with an e-ticket you do not need to check in or out as you would with an OV-chipkaart, because there is no chip in the ticket. However, you can use the e-ticket to open closed gates at stations.
Please note:
Find a gate with the symbol “Scan tickets” and a glass scanner where you can present your smartphone.
Not all gates are suitable for e-tickets.
Problems opening?
- Put the NFC function off on your Android phone (via Settings > Connections > NFC).
- Hold your smartphone at a distance from the scanner and try again.
