1. Can I use the Gaiyo Card immediately?
No. Before you can travel, you must first activate the Gaiyo Card. This can be done up to three months after receiving the card.
2. How do I activate my Gaiyo Card?
- Go to an OV-chipkaart service point.
- Scan the Gaiyo Card (or insert it into the device).
- Select the option “Collect orders”.
- Follow the steps on the screen to complete the activation.
Please note: you are not allowed to load credit onto the card yourself.
3. What services can I use with the Gaiyo Card?
After activation, you can use the Gaiyo Card for:
- Public transport: train, bus, tram, and metro.
- OV-fiets and P+R parking.
- Refueling and/or charging vehicles (you can find the PIN code in the Gaiyo Portal: go to mijn.gaiyo.com, click on Settings in the top right corner, and select PIN on the Gaiyo Card image).
For shared cars, shared scooters, and shared bikes, use the Gaiyo App. Scan the QR code on your Gaiyo Card or download the app from the app stores.
4. Where can I see which services I can use?
Log in to your personal Gaiyo Portal (my.gaiyo.com) to see which services your employer has made available.

In short: the Gaiyo Card must always first be activated at a public transport chip card service point via “Collect orders”. Only then can you use the card for travel and other mobility services.
