1. Can I permanently change my travel class?
Yes, but this must always be done through your employer or manager. The standard travel class linked to your Gaiyo Account is part of the agreements your employer has made with Gaiyo.
2. How does a permanent class change work?
- Submit a request to your employer or manager.
- Your employer/manager can change your travel class directly in the management section of the Gaiyo Portal.
- After this change, you will need to go to an NS ticket machine with your Gaiyo Card to load the new travel entitlement onto the card.
- Hold your card in front of the card reader.
- The new travel entitlement will be automatically retrieved and activated.
3. What is the difference with a temporary class change?
- Temporary class change (“Today 1st class”): can be arranged yourself at an NS ticket machine, valid until 4:00 a.m.
- Permanent class change: set up by your employer/manager in the Gaiyo Portal, after which you retrieve the new travel entitlement from an NS ticket machine.
4. Where can I go with questions?
- Employees: contact your employer or manager to request a change.
- Employers/managers: log in to the Gaiyo Portal (management section) to manage employee travel classes.
- Problems retrieving travel entitlement? Contact NS Customer Service on 0800-0540.
In short: a permanent class change is set up by your employer or manager in the Gaiyo Portal. You then activate the new travel entitlement yourself by going to an NS ticket machine with your Gaiyo Card.
